As part of a continuing development of cardiac diagnostics in the Royal Free NHS Private Practice Unit (RFH NHS PPU), an exciting opportunity has arisen for a BSE accredited, Band 7 highly specialised cardiac physiologist in echocardiography. This post is fixed-term for 12 months and 22.5 hours per week, it will be based at the Royal Free Hospital.
The post will provide an exciting opportunity to work with a dedicated management team and develop the cardiac physiology service with non-invasive cardiologists within the PPU.
The PPU at the Royal Free delivers high quality medical and surgical specialist services to patients at local, national and international level. This specialist care delivered on PPU is a reflection of the work that the Royal Free is renowned for including organ transplantation, the management of rare diseases and cancer diagnostics and treatment as well as cardiovascular disease. Cardiac diagnostics, in particular basic and complex echocardiography, are a key component of care delivery for all of these services.
The post holder will:
• Deliver high quality trans-thoracic echocardiography to both in-patients and out-patients attending the Royal Free PPU, as well as supporting the NHS service.
• Support a team of cardiologists with an interest in echocardiography perform more complex studies including bubble, contrast and treadmill and pharmacological stress echocardiography as well as trans-oesophageal echocardiography.
• Deliver a range of other non-invasive cardiac diagnostics including Holter and ambulatory blood monitors
• Work with the PPU Medical Director and Cardiologists to further develop cardiac diagnostics within the PPU
The post holder will be well supported by the medical team with opportunities for peer support with the wider NHS team. Candidates should be able to perform and interpret transthoracic studies independently and hold BSE (or equivalent) accreditation.
