Crynodeb

The Environment Agency are fully committed to having an inclusive workforce to reflect the communities we serve. We don't just talk about diversity; we seek it, embrace it, and live it, for the benefit of our staff, our communities, and our environment.

We have an opportunity to join the new Enforcement Digital Services (EDS) Team to support the delivery of enforcement digital systems in the Compliance and Enforcement team within Future Regulation. We work closely with the Regulatory Services Programme, looking to transform how the Environment Agency regulates.

We are looking for a Business Support Officer (BSO) to support the EDS Team and allow us to function in an efficient, accurate, informed, and strategic way. This is a fairly new role, therefore there is scope to shape this role to make the best use of your skills and to meet the business needs. You will have opportunity to be involved in various work areas that enable you to develop and to expand your networks.

As BSO, your role will include:
• Creating and maintaining a ‘map’ of enforcement digital services including costs, support and key milestones
• Assisting in forward planning and establishing a ‘conveyor belt’ of upgrades or replacements for our enforcement digital services
• Liaising with relevant internal stakeholders across regimes to gather information and use this to help prioritise and shape our digital initiatives
• Support the transition of new enforcement IT systems to business as usual
• Extend our SharePoint Online presence to a wider EDS scope with pages and content, and keep them up to date
• Supporting the Service Owner and Product Manager including directly engaging on selected project support and delivery
• Additional tasks to support our Compliance and Enforcement Team Manager as appropriate

The team

The role sits within the Future Regulation Compliance and Enforcement team which is under the Chief Regulator’s Group.
We’re a dispersed team and work with a wide range of technical and project experts across the country.
We’re part of the Environment and Business (E&B) Directorate. We promote a positive, inclusive, and supportive culture where everyone feels valued. We use evidence, expertise, engagement, and innovation to enhance and support delivery, influence policy, legislation, and secure resources.

Experience/skills required

We are looking for someone who holds relevant transferable skills and capabilities.

In your capability-based answers please demonstrate your:
• organisation skills and ability to prioritise and balance your workload effectively to support the team
• flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work comfortably in a digitally agile, project-based environment
• can-do attitude with initiative and reliability to ensure that tasks are achieved
• attention to detail, conscientiousness, and diligence in completing tasks to a good standard
• interpersonal skills and ability to develop and maintain relationships with colleagues and partners in dispersed networks
• communication skills, both written and verbal, and ability to communicate confidently and professionally using different channels
• IT skills, including experience using Microsoft Office 365 applications

Experience in enforcement and using the EA’s enforcement-related systems is desirable.
You’ll have a range of development opportunities and appropriate training will be provided.
