An experienced,motivatedand independently minded clinical manager whois able toact on their own initiative, adopting values led ‘can do’ leadership style within a climate of constant change and uncertainty to support the strategic direction of quality care and compassion of the nursing/AHP service across theorganisation.
Reporting to the Associate Director of Nursing, the post holder is expected to function at a senior level within the Cancer Team, proactively leading and providing solutions to resolve complex issues,in accordance withprofessional standards, agreed Trustobjectives, targets, quality standards and resource constraints.
The post holder willpossessleadership skills to deal competently with complex issues in ensuring that professional standards and policy are upheld, implemented and performance managed.
The Lead Cancer Nurse will improve the quality of health care provision for patients with cancer and their families throughout the cancer and palliative care journey by working with patients and staff and play a key role in the integration of cancer care across organisationalboundaries.
The post holder will support the Associate Director of Nursing with the translation of national cancer strategy and policy into local delivery plans and will provide an expert nursing perspective in relation to the planning and delivery of cancer services across the cancer pathway.
Work as part of the Corporate Cancer Services Team to deliver relevant aspects of the Cancer ImprovementProgrammepertaining toCancer Patient Experience and Cancer CNS/AHP workforceidentifyingopportunities for service redesign, developing recommendations to improve cancer pathways and ensuring best practice is shared across clinical teams
Act as Professional Lead to the Cancer CNSs in each specialty leading the Personalised Care portfolio, including national directives to deliver pre-habilitation, LivingWithand Beyond Cancer initiatives and personalised stratified follow up pathways
Be a visible nursing leader,facilitatingexcellent standards of cancer nursing care, ensuring a high quality and efficient approach to service delivery, including remaining calm, controlled and solution focusedintimes of difficulty
Providing strategic oversight and operational managerial support for the information centres, in conjunction with the information centre manager
Lead on the continued delivery of the highest possible patient reported experience of care for those affected by cancer, asdemonstratedin the National Cancer Patient Experience Survey through the implementation of local action plans

Lead the development of the Clinical Nurse Specialists,ward basednurses and outpatient staff in the care, treatment and management of patients with cancer in line with local and national frameworks
Lead the development and delivery of psychological reflective practice in collaboration with the psychology teams for the cancer workforce across the organisation
With the support of the Senior Management Team, lead on the review and development of service and workforce plans, in conjunction with other services and Divisions, the wider health care community and external agencies according to current national and local requirements.
Provide advice and guidance on preparation of the clinical environment for safe practice. Collect, collate, and analyse and action information, ensuringaccuratenursing and management and patient records/documentation are maintained.
Support the development of creating effective links with cancer users and carergroups across Liverpool community, in line with patient and public involvement(PPI) strategies
Deliver implementation of improvements and action plans detailed in the Cancer ImprovementProgrammeidentifiedthrough quality frameworks such as SSQP, Quality Assurance visits, National Cancer Audits, and CQC
Full participation in the cancer patient pathway, including contribution to the achievement of cancer standards and Cancer Harm Review Process ofidentifiedcancer breaches
