North Kesteven District Council is seeking a Senior Authorised Officer to join the Public Protection Team. This post puts you at the heart of a passionate and dynamic department which is critical in the delivery of the Council’s Public Protection services providing food safety, health & safety and licensing guidance, inspection and enforcement to businesses throughout the district.
Job Requirements:
• CIEH registered food safety practitioner
• Accredited Environmental Health BSc/MSc or Higher Certificate in Food Control or Advanced Professional Certificate in Food Hygiene and Standards Control.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in food safety regulation
• Be qualified to NEBOSH Level 6 (National Diploma for Occupational Health and Safety Management) or equivalent. Or commitment to complete the qualification within an agreed timescale of starting the position
Key Responsibilities:
• Carry out routine and reactive food hygiene and health & safety inspections
• Work with and develop our Primary Authority Partnerships
• Complete private water, food and environmental sampling and associated investigations
• Carry out licencing visits including skin piercing and animal licensing
• Supervise, support and develop the Authorised Officers
• Providing regular updates to the Team Leader and assisting the Team Leader, as required
Key Attributes:

• Strong visual and language skills
• Competent across in food safety, health & safety and relevant licensing topics
• A highly organised and dynamic person
• Good supervisory skills and work effectively as part of small team
You will be required to apply a high level of attention to detail and focus when carrying out this role, to support the delivery of the Public Protection Team at an operational and technical level and show an appreciation of the contribution local government can make to the welfare of the people living, working, and visiting the district.
