Job Summary This role will be pivotal in maintaining a team approach to quality oversight and quality improvement processes within Teldoc. Working in conjunction with the Director of Quality & Governance, maintain and audit clinical standards in adherence to local and national priorities. The post holder will be responsible for overseeing the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care within agreed parameters, and have a working knowledge of local, national policies and legislation which govern current service provision. To provide oversight and support to Quality Nurse role in relation to Teldocs Infection Control processes and the maintenance of safe patient care in all areas that the organisation delivers care. As a Research Facilitator, you will have responsibility for supporting and contributing to a range of National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Portfolio studies and commercial studies across the organisation. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES General Demonstrate a sound understanding of clinical research, clinical governance and risk management and ensure its effective application to the work place Ability to maintain a visible presence across all sites to ensure different needs and challenges of quality governance and risk management are identified and effectively managed Quality Improvement To work collaboratively and act as a specialist resource to all stakeholders to develop improvements in quality in both an advisory and directional capacity. Be influential within a changing environment Monitor adherence to quality standards through audit. Be proactive in promoting Quality Assurance and identifying deficits in patient care. Encourage and support the principles of Clinical Governance. Use of information technology to produce appropriate monitoring tools, protocols and databases Ensure processes appertaining to the Quality Improvement Team are adhered to. Undertaking risk assessments in line with the Quality Improvement Teams risk assessment process; Reporting all incidents, near misses and hazards in line with Teldocs reporting arrangements/system. Undertaking a statutory duty of care for your own personal safety and that of others Skills and ability to fulfil other delegated duties requested by line manager Alert other team members to issues of quality and risk Research Facilitation Assist in obtaining approval for projects and in assessing feasibility for research studies Act as an ambassador for research and promote research trials within Teldoc Provide clinical and non-clinical support to NIHR portfolio research projects Promote the role and benefits of research in developing evidence-based service improvements within the organisation. To work with the research GP leads to finalise and implement the research policy and procedures. To support learning and development of staff around research and promote research within the organisation To liaise with external research agencies in order to ensure the smooth running of research studies for participants and for the organisation Infection Control Support the Quality Nurse on all matters relating to the Prevention & Control of Infection, including policy development and implementation and the promotion of ownership of the infection prevention & control annual programme of work Deputise for the Quality Nurse Positively promote and maintain good working relationships with team members and other staff across the organisation Professional Responsibilities To promote a safe clinical environment for all patients, visitors and colleagues. The post holder will be required to work within their Code of Practice and professional guidelines. Maintain an up-to-date level of professional competence within the specific environment. Participate in the development of the service to ensure clinical governance processes are actively implemented at team level. Assist in the implementation of evidence-based practice and participate in research and other projects as required. This will include (but will not be limited to): Using personal security systems within the workplace according to practice guidelines Awareness of national standards of infection control and cleanliness and regulatory / contractual / professional requirements, and good practice guidelines Management and maintenance of own Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Active observation of current working practices across the practice in relation to infection control, cleanliness and related activities, ensuring that procedures are followed and weaknesses / training needs are identified, escalating issues as appropriate Identifying the risks involved in work activities and undertaking such activities in a way that manages those risks across clinical and patient process Making effective use of training to update knowledge and skills, and initiate and manage the training of others across the full range of infection control and patient processes Using appropriate infection control procedures, maintaining work areas in a tidy, clean and sterile, and safe way, free from hazards. Initiation of remedial / corrective action where needed or escalation to responsible management Actively identifying, reporting, and correction of health and safety hazards and infection hazards immediately when recognised Keeping own work areas and general / patient areas generally clean, sterile, identifying issues and hazards / risks in relation to other work areas within the business, and assuming responsibility in the maintenance of general standards of cleanliness across the business in consultation (where appropriate) with other sector managers Undertaking periodic infection control training (minimum once annually) Demonstrate due regard for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and adults.
