As a graduate learning support assistant, you will be responsible for supporting the needs of SEN students with learning difficulties or disabilities. You will work alongside teachers and other support staff to provide individualised support to help students archive their full potential.
Graduate Learning Support Assistant – The role
• Long-term, full-time Graduate learning support assistant role, Monday - Friday
• Up to £650 per week
• Provide support for students with profound and multiple learning difficulties helping them navigate both their education and personal development.
• Support students in developing life skills and preparing for their transition into adulthood, independent living, and community engagement.
• Assist students with speech and communication needs, working with speech & language therapists, occupational therapists, and educational psychologists to implement tailored support strategies.
• Offer emotional support and create a safe, structured environment where students feel valued and understood.
• Work with students who may require physical and medical assistance, including those in wheelchairs or hospital beds.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to ensure the best possible outcomes for each student.
Graduate Learning Support Assistant – Candidate requirements.
• A 2:1 or higher degree in Psychology, Health & Social Care, Education, or a related subject.
• A genuine passion for supporting young people with SEN and additional needs.
• High levels of resilience, empathy, and emotional intelligence.
• Experience in support, mentoring, SEN education, or mental health work is highly desirable.
• A driving license and access to a car is beneficial but not essential.
