Make a Daily Difference – Cook Fresh, Nutritious Meals in a School That Values Care and Quality

Are you an experienced cook who’s passionate about creating wholesome, home-style meals? We’re looking for a School Cook in Charge to lead the kitchen at Pegasus School in Bristol. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of a small school kitchen, delivering nutritious meals that help students thrive.

You’ll be cooking for up to 50 pupils each day, with the freedom to focus on quality, care, and consistency — all within a friendly and supportive school environment.

What You’ll Be Doing:

- Prepare and serve hot and cold meals for up to 50 students daily, including breakfast and lunch
- Plan and cook meals in line with school menus and dietary guidelines, ensuring all allergens and preferences are considered
- Take full ownership of the kitchen – from daily prep and cooking to cleaning and compliance
- Manage stock levels, place orders, and receive deliveries
- Maintain excellent food hygiene, safety standards, and kitchen records
- Liaise with school staff to ensure smooth service and support special events or themed days
- Provide a welcoming and positive service experience for pupils and staff alike


What We’re Looking For:

- A relevant cookery or catering qualification and experience in a similar role, ideally within a school or care setting
- Confidence working independently and managing all aspects of a small kitchen
- Strong understanding of food hygiene, allergen management, and health & safety
- A caring, reliable, and proactive approach to your work
- The ability to pass an enhanced DBS check and any required vetting
