The Role
We are recruiting to the role of General Healthcare Technician to join our specialist technical team in the School of Life and Health Sciences. This is an exciting time as we expand to provide technical support within occupational therapy, physiotherapy and clinical skills and simulation teaching within the School of Life and Health Sciences.
Key responsibilities will include supporting the team while preparing and setting up equipment and materials for teaching a range of clinical skills and supporting simulated learning. Previous experience of providing technical support in a similar environment is highly desirable. This hands-on role will suit someone with experience of and interest in supporting practical-based subjects in healthcare, such as nursing, allied health, physical therapies, and broader public health and social care.
The successful candidate will have skills and experience in a broad range of technical skills from a practical based scientific support background. Knowledge of clinical procedures, equipment and environments, and of what makes an effective clinical and/or learning environment is expected. Experience in risk assessment, COSHH and hazardous waste disposal is desirable.
The role requires support for the preparation of specialist spaces in advance of simulation or practical sessions ensuring all equipment is available and functional, and assisting in post session cleaning, waste disposal and decontamination following guidance and standard operating procedures.
The candidate should have a relevant degree level qualification or significant experience of working in a clinical or clinical simulation environment.
