We have an excellent opportunity for a Finance Assistant to join our team, providing vital support to the Finance function and the wider business. This role will suit someone with strong attention to detail, good communication skills, and a genuine interest in building a career in finance within a busy and fast-paced environment.
As Finance Assistant, you will play an important role in ensuring the accuracy of financial information through reconciliations, monitoring expenditure and income, and supporting the month-end process.
Here are some of the activities you will be involved in…
- Monitoring organisational transactions through the scrutiny of bank accounts, inclusive of income and expenditure.
- Investigating transactions on bank accounts and company credit cards, ensuring reconciliation and resolution where required.
- Taking an active role in the month-end closing process through data input, reconciliation, and report generation, ensuring ledger balances are complete and accurate.
- Preparation and posting of journals into the financial accounting system.
- Allocation and matching of cash.
- Raising invoices and undertaking other Sales Ledger administration.
- Acting as a first point of contact with the bank and liaising with both external and internal stakeholders.
- Investigating and resolving account queries and variances.
- Assisting with the preparation of the Monthly Management Accounts through accurate data input.
- Performing monthly balance sheet reconciliations and attending review meetings.
- Ensuring compliance with Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental policies, procedures and standards.
We would love to hear from you if…
You are studying towards AAT Level 2 or 3 (or hold equivalent experience) and are keen to continue progressing your finance qualifications. You will bring strong communication skills, with the ability to explain financial matters clearly to colleagues and external stakeholders.
You should have experience of working in a financial environment, ideally within an Assistant Accountant role, and be confident in bank reconciliations and investigating variances. Experience within the construction sector would be a distinct advantage, along with a sound commercial awareness.
We are looking for someone with developed analytical skills who can investigate and reconcile financial information effectively. Confidence in using digital technology is important, and advanced Excel skills would be a strong benefit. An understanding of financial regulation and compliance in relation to organisational needs would also be valuable.
