Summary
The Accounts and Finance Officer will be responsible for managing day-to-day financial operations including bookkeeping, invoicing, payroll support, budgeting, and financial reporting. This role ensures the financial integrity of the business and supports strategic planning through accurate and timely reporting.
The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented finance professional with experience in both transactional and strategic finance functions, preferably within a recruitment, healthcare, or service-led organisation.
Responsibilities
Maintain and update financial records including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledgers.
Prepare and process client invoices, payment reminders, and receipts.
Reconcile bank statements, corporate cards, and internal ledgers monthly.
Manage payroll inputs and coordinate with payroll vendors to ensure timely and accurate salary payments.
Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, including balance sheets and P&L statements.
Prepare cash flow forecasts, expense tracking, and variance analysis reports.
Monitor supplier payments, follow-up on outstanding receivables, and manage credit control processes.
Assist in budgeting processes and provide financial insights to support management decisions.
Support tax, VAT, and compliance filings in line with UK regulations.
Liaise with external accountants, auditors, HMRC, and banks where necessary.
Maintain confidentiality and data security in all financial activities.
Ensure finance documents are accurately filed and ready for audits and inspections.
Requirements
Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
2–4 years of experience in an accounting or finance officer role.
Strong knowledge of UK accounting standards, VAT, and payroll regulations.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage).
Strong Excel and financial modelling skills.
High level of integrity and confidentiality.
Excellent attention to detail and analytical ability.
Experience in recruitment or healthcare industry finance (desirable).
AAT, ACCA, or CIMA certification (part-qualified or qualified – preferred).
