Opening in early 2026, Base71 Youth Zone is an ambitious new £10 million facility designed to transform the lives of young people in Barnsley. Open seven days a week, it will offer a wide range of high-quality, inspiring activities in a safe, welcoming, and purpose-built environment.

Do you have a passion for climbing and outdoor adventure? We’re looking for Climbing Wall Instructors to join our team at Base71 Youth Zone, opening in 2026.
With a brand-new climbing wall as part of our £10 million youth facility, you’ll deliver fun, safe, and challenging sessions that inspire young people to push themselves, build confidence, and learn new skills. From inductions and supervised climbs to supporting NICAS awards, you’ll play a key role in making climbing accessible and exciting for all young people.
What you’ll do:
Deliver safe, engaging, and inclusive climbing sessions for young people aged 8–19 (or up to 25 with SEND).
Carry out wall checks, inductions, and safety procedures to ensure the climbing wall is used safely.
Run fun and developmental sessions that motivate young people to try climbing and keep progressing.
Encourage participation in accredited awards such as NICAS.
Build positive relationships and create a friendly, welcoming environment.
What you’ll bring:
Climbing Wall Instructor qualification (essential).
Experience in climbing instruction and wall safety checks.
Knowledge of health & safety in a climbing environment.
Experience working with young people from diverse backgrounds (including SEND).
Energy, patience, and the ability to inspire confidence in young people.
