This is a very busy role overseeing a wide range of Medical and Surgical Clinics including Plastic Surgery , General Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Neurosciences, Urology and Renal Medicine, Colorectal Surgery as well as the Flexible Cystoscopy Clinic, Minor surgery and Neuromuscular Biopsies Clinics.
The post holder will be responsible for managing the day to day clinical activities carried out in the department. The role will hold key responsibility for coordinating shifts in the Outpatients and ensuring appropriate staff and skill mix across the department on a daily basis to ensure excellent delivery of patient care.
The post holder will also be expected to deputise for the Outpatients Nurse Managers in their absence. Applicant must have previous Band 5 experience in Outpatients Nursing with clear knowledge of the role and evidence of Leadership as excellent verbal and written communication skills . The applicants must also have had previous experience in Inpatients Ward Nursing.

The main responsibilities of the Band 6 Junior Sister will be to assist the Band 7 in the management, maintainance and support of the outpatient clinics across The Royal London and Mile End Hospitals. The Outpatient areas are currently open Monday to Friday with varying hours from 08.30 to 19.00. There is a possibility that in the future there will be regular weekend and evening work. The post holder must be flexible to open and close Clinics as required by the service. The post holder must also demonstrate a flexible in the approach to the clinical area and provide cover for any area specified.
The post holder will be responsible for supporting the Band 7’s in the management of designated clinic area for supporting the professional development of staff. This includes coordinating daily Clinical activities, managing staff numbers and skills mix, handling patients and staff complaints, managing risk to staff, colleagues and visitors, implementation of service improvement strategies. It also includes participating in various managerial duties including completing staff Rota, conducting staff appraisals, participating in the informal sickness management process, participation in Clinical Audits and supporting Band 7 in managing staff performance and capability.
