A Vacancy at Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Assistant Psychologist to join two services: Steps to Recovery and Assertive Outreach Services in Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust.

Steps to Recovery consists of a community rehabilitation team and seven inpatient rehabilitation units and there are six Assertive Outreach teams across Birmingham and Solihull. This post is a 12-month fixed term role with one Steps to Recovery unit in Erdington and one Assertive Outreach Team in Small Heath. The post holder will join these specialist multidisciplinary teams providing intensive, flexible, and holistic support to people with complex psychosis or bipolar disorder. They will be warmly welcomed into a well-established and supportive team of psychologists working across ICCR.

The post holder will be working under the supervision of a clinical psychologist and will receive regular clinical supervision and have access to peer support through the Assistant Psychologists Group and assistant psychologist reflective practice groups. We also have a comprehensive CPD training programme.

We welcome applications from individuals with an upper second-class psychology degree who are eligible for graduate membership of the BPS and who are interested in pursuing a career in clinical or counselling psychology.

Within our Steps to Recovery Services and Assertive Outreach Teams we use a well-coordinated, team-based approach. The successful applicant will be assisting with the delivery and evaluation of psychological services to service users and families within the teams. This will include working with individuals, providing structured low-intensity psychological interventions under the supervision of a clinical psychologist, as well as supporting clinical psychologists in the provision of more complex assessments and therapeutic interventions for individuals, families, and groups. There may be the opportunity to contribute to interventions with teams, comprehensive psychological assessments through the administration and scoring of questionnaires, semi-structured interviews, and psychometric assessments. There will be opportunities to assist with the development and delivery of teaching and training packages to other staff groups and the honorary assistant psychologist group.

The post holder will work in conjunction with team members from other disciplines and contribute to multidisciplinary discussions and meetings. The post holder will participate in the collection, analysis, and presentation of data for other audit and service evaluation projects within the teams.
