Job Description
West Dunbartonshire Leisure Trust is seeking enthusiastic and highly motivated coaches to join our Active Schools team. As a Coach or Assistant, you'll help deliver fun, high-quality, and engaging sport and physical activity sessions for children and young people across West Dunbartonshire.
What You'll Do:
- Deliver sessions before, during, and after school, including curriculum-time programmes.
- Engage young people through fun, inclusive, and active experiences.
- Support targeted initiatives that promote healthy and active lifestyles.
What We're Looking For:
- A passion for sport and physical activity.
- Ability to inspire and motivate young people.
- Strong communication, flexibility, and self-motivation.
- Experience in coaching or working with children.
- Current or working towards National Governing Body (NGB) qualifications or equivalent relevant coaching credentials.
Requirements:
This is a flexible, casual position based on programme needs.
Applicants must hold a range of National Governing Body of Sport qualifications - Level 1 or equivalent or be working towards this, as it is an essential requirement of the post.
Successful candidates must be willing to join or maintain membership in the PVG Scheme (Protecting Vulnerable Groups).
The hourly rate for an Assistant Coach starts at £13.12 and a Lead Coach starts at £14.43ph. (Pay award pending)
Requirements
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Adults and Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2020 and as such membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Further details of this scheme can be found here.
Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.
Responsibilities
The employment for which you are applying is excepted from the provisions of section 4(2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders (Exceptions) Order 1975. Applicants are, therefore, not statutorily entitled to withhold information about convictions which for other purposes are "spent" under the provisions of the Act. In the event of employment any failure to disclose such convictions could result in dismissal or disciplinary action.
