A Vacancy at Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust.
We are seeking an inspiring, compassionate and accomplished Consultant Psychiatrist to join our supportive CAHMS Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Team (CRHTT) working with children and young people aged 0–18.
Based at Parkview Clinic, Moseley, you’ll play a vital role in leading psychiatric assessment and treatment for our young people with acute mental health needs. You will conduct assessments, develop risk management plans, and initiate interventions that prioritise safety and wellbeing.
We’re looking for a dedicated and qualified professional with full GMC registration (with a licence to practise) and a medical degree such as an MBBS or equivalent. You’ll be on the specialist register (CCT/CESR) and hold both Section 12 and Approved Clinician status. With a strong foundation in mental health diagnosis and psychiatry, you’ll ideally bring experience in CAMHS or CAMHS learning disability services. As a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) or equivalent, you’ll also be a clear communicator, a positive role model, and a team player who thrives in multidisciplinary settings.
You will support the CRHTT in multidisciplinary team assessment of patients presenting with acute mental health presentations, risk assessments and management plans and initiation and monitoring of appropriate clinical interventions. You’ll be part of a skilled MDT, working closely with our Specialty Doctor, Clinical Psychologist, Assistant Psychologists, OT Technician, and Mental Health Practitioners, and collaborating across services to ensure continuity of care.
Your leadership will support junior clinicians, strengthen system-wide partnerships, and help shape the ongoing development of our forward-thinking mental health service.
This is your chance to make a real difference to the lives of young people across Birmingham.
Welcome to Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust. Our 4000 clinical and support staff help us to improve mental health wellbeing and meet the needs of the 70,000 people we serve each year. We provide a range of mental healthcare services across Birmingham and Solihull, as well as specialised services nationally. We also offer medical, nursing and psychology training and are proud of our international reputation for both research and innovation.
Our population is culturally diverse, characterised in places by high levels of deprivation which create an increasing demand for our services and a necessity for us to make sure everyone can access the help they need. We are a team of compassionate, inclusive and committed people working together to provide excellent care to support our community. If you are looking for a place to belong, where you can make a real difference to people’s lives, join our team where our warm welcome is waiting for you.
Please find duties regarding the job in the Job Description and Person Specification attached to the vacancy.
