An exciting opportunity has arisen for an opportunity to join the Acute and Urgent Care Service Line as our second Matron covering 4 of our 8 Adult Inpatient wards. This post with expand the senior operational management for the service line, splitting the current 8 ward matron portfolio into 2 portfolios. The increased capacity at a senior management level will support the service line to drive forward with its ambition to provide excellent, timely, responsive and quality care for those who need our services, aswell as their families and carers.

You will be joining a recently established, energised and colaborative leadership team, working within a fast paced, challenging landscape. The portfolio of services includes 4 adult acute psychiatric inpatient wards based across our Tolworth and Springfield sites. You will be supported to deliver in this role by 2 x 8a Clinical Service Leads, as well as our Inpatient ACD and wider senior leadership team. This is an exciting role with a real opportunity to have a great impact supporting the service line and wider Adult Patient Journey (APJ).

You will be an experienced manager within the Trust, ideally with more than 2 years experience at 8A or already working at an 8B level.

You will receive excellent support and supervision from the team.

The post combines a crucial requirement for professional leadership and clinical management, jointly accountable to the Head of Service and Head of Nursing for the service line. The post holder will be responsible for delivery of high quality and performance measures across our inpatient services, whilst ensuring robust and visible leadership to your team.

We are looking for an individual who has a strong track record of delivery, who demonstrates excellent leadership qualities and someone who is inspirational and engaging with staff, external partners and patients. The individual will represent the portfolio of services and lead on these areas in forums such as cluster, service line governance and business meetings and have a key role with supporting quality and flow across our services.

About our locations:

Springfield University Hospital, Tooting

Our largest, 19-ward site is in Springfield Village, created following our £150m investment into two new world class mental health facilities. A 32-acre public park, shops and cafes are now opening. Springfield is close to shops, cafes and Tooting Bec on the Northern Line plus Earlsfield and Tooting rail stations and bus routes.
• Lead clinical and operationally across 4 of our Adult acute inpatient wards
• Line managing and supporting the development of the Clinical Service leads across our inpatent provision
• To ensure full compliance with Fundamental of Care Standards and close monitoring of effective roster management
• Develop, implement and manage systems and processes for effective governance within our inpatient services
• Demonstrate excellent organisational and time management skills
• To role model trust values, whilst holding self and colleagues to account appropriately and demonstrating personal commitment to the delivery of high quality services
• To support successful delivery of key work programmes and service line projects, including QII
• To be accountable for implementation of and leading on service development actions and outputs to support flow across our inpatient provision
• Support with management and learning from incidents , leading on staff debriefs, Learning After action reviews etc.
• Be responsible for a workforce of multi-disciplinary clinical and non-clinical staff and in doing so role model and provide effective leadership and management to all staff and promote an effective team ethos.
• To be accountable for the service delivery of the of the Trust Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and to be able to analyse performance trends, identifying risk and advise teams of possible actions.
