The post holder will work as part of a team of trainers to deliver Safety Intervention (SI) Training to Trust employees. SI Training was previously known as MAPA - Management of Actual or Potential Aggression - or PMVA - Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression. Please note: although Banded at Band 5, this post does not require NMC or other professional registration and is suitable for unregistered staff.

The post holder will be responsible for delivering and maintaining a high standard of SI Training in a classroom setting and across a number of workplaces in ELFT sites. The training will be delivered to all levels of staff.

To provide assessment of competence for individuals within the workplace.

Trainers will be responsible for developing and updating courses in accordance with best practice and current legislation that is both compliant with the Regional Mandatory Training Passport, NHSLA standards, CQC and course specific standards outlined by relevant professional body.

Trainers will keep accurate training registers to assist the Learning and Development Team to maintain employee learning records.

To evaluate competency of all Trust staff on training courses to negate risk and ensure legislative compliance.

Person SpecificationQualifications
Essential
• Experience of mental health care
• Very good communication and 'people' skills
• Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
Desirable
• Safety Intervention Certified Training Qualification
• Teaching / Training Qualification or equivalent
Experience
Essential
• Experience working in a mental health clinical setting
• Team work and communication
Desirable
• Relevant experience of delivering training packages to multi-disciplinary groups
• Relevant experience of assessing competence in the classroom and in the workplace
• Relevant experience of using a range of methodologies to evaluate the effectiveness of training
• Experience of working with patients with challenging behaviours
Skills/ Knowledge
Essential
• Knowledge of the Health Sector
• Ability to demonstrate a sound knowledge and application of training techniques
• Ability to generate verbal and written communication which is relevant, concise, accurate and legible at all levels
• IT literate in the areas of Microsoft Office, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and MS Teams
• Demonstrate an understanding of Regulations covering Statutory and Mandatory Training
