Would you like to be part of a new and exciting internal alternative provision at our growing secondary school?
There’s never been a better time to join the fantastic team here at Nailsea School as we encourage everyone to exceed their own expectations and to be the very best they can be.
We have an exciting opportunity to appoint the first Higher Level Teaching Assistant to deliver lessons to small classes within 'The Bridge'. 'The Bridge' is one of the two areas of Internal Alternative Provision at Nailsea School and Sixth Form. The provision is designed to offer a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students who are struggling to succeed in full time mainstream class sizes linked to behaviour. Such students could be at risk of suspension or permanent exclusion from school. The successful candidate will be key in launching the provision, working with 'The Bridge' co-ordinator to support students to continue to succeed at school
We are looking for candidates who have:
Experience of working with children who may find full time mainstream curriculum a challenge
A good understanding of the national curriculum framework and adaptive teaching strategies
A good understanding of how to modify and adapt the school day to meet the needs of individuals within the class
An ability to be flexible, positive and good humoured; proactively seeking creative ways of meeting children’s needs
Good levels of written English
Excellent interpersonal skills
The successful candidate will be required to:
Adapt and deliver lessons (across a range of mainstream subjects) to small groups of students who have been referred to 'The Bridge' as part our graduated response
Plan, prepare and deliver core national and life skills (i.e. Unit Award Scheme) curriculum to students on a small group basis, supporting individual needs as required
Give clear and effective teaching to secure pupil progress whilst assessing the development, progress, and attainment of pupils
Provide assessment feedback to teachers, and SENCO, where appropriate
What we can offer:
Professional induction, training and continued professional development opportunities.
Staff benefits including reduced leisure centre membership and cycle to work scheme.
A staff assistance programme with specialist provider, CareFirst who provide a 24/7 free phone helpline, or face-to-face counselling for every employee in the Wessex family.
Exciting opportunities as part of a growing multi-academy Trust.
Local Government Pension Scheme with a generous employer contribution in excess of 20%, subject to pension eligibility criteria.
The closing date for applications is 9.00am on Monday 1st September 2025
Interview: Week Commencing 8th September 2025Please click ‘Apply Now’ and once fully completed, please submit your application.
