The Governors at St Peter's are looking to appoint a professional, highly motivated, dynamic and inspirational Teaching Assistant to work alongside our vibrant KS1 staff team. You must have excellent interpersonal skills, be committed to making a difference to children’s lives and have a passion for inclusive education.
We are looking for someone who is hard working, a consummate professional and willing to be flexible within the challenges of working in a busy primary school.
Experience of delivering phonics would be advantageous.
You will work as a member of an established team and will contribute to the wider school community. You will need to demonstrate the ability to work with teachers and also work independently to support pupils.
You will be supporting pupils by adopting relevant strategies and techniques, acquired through specialist knowledge / experience, to enable them to access the curriculum, engage with their learning and achieve their full potential.
You will need to provide specialist support and expertise in one or more areas in order to deliver measurable impact on student attainment as well as social and emotional well-being. You will also need to take some responsibility for planning and preparing resources where appropriate and in making effective records.
High expectations of children’s potential and the ability to make effective relationships with children that enable learning to take place are essential.The working hours will be 32.5 hours per week, 8.30am - 3.30pm Monday - Friday, term time only (38 weeks) plus 1 week INSET (training hours)St Peter’s Vision is for a 'World of Opportunities'. Our school is set in fabulous and spacious grounds in South Bristol. We have three playgrounds and two areas that are specially set up for our Early Years Children. We have allotments, climbing and adventure equipment, an arboretum, a secret garden, large playing fields and our very own cycle track. With two buildings we also have plenty of space inside. We have two halls, a fully fitted cookery room with four cooking stations and a relaxing grassed courtyard. Children in the Foundation Stage and KS1 (Infants) are in one building and children in KS2 (Juniors) are in another building. We also have an ‘Eco Pod’ which is a fun and exciting space for children to learn in – it even has a slide inside!
The successful candidate must:
have 1 years recent experience of working as a Teaching Assistant;
positively promote inclusion and inspire them to achieve high standards and realise their potential;
meet the essential criteria as laid out in the employee specification;
be approachable, organised and an excellent practitioner;
have a calm and caring approach with children.
