Are you passionate about student wellbeing and personal development? A leading college in Hornchurch is seeking a committed and empathetic Pastoral Tutor to provide high-quality support to learners aged 16+.
Location: Hornchurch
Rate: £20 per hour
Hours: Full-Time (Monday to Friday)
Contract: Temporary - Ongoing
As a Pastoral Tutor, you will play a key role in supporting students with their personal, emotional, and academic wellbeing. Working within a college environment, you'll help learners navigate challenges, stay on track, and engage positively with their studies.
- Deliver one-to-one and small group pastoral sessions
- Support students facing barriers to education (mental health, attendance, safeguarding, behaviour)
- Liaise with curriculum staff, support teams, and external agencies
- Monitor attendance and engagement, implementing intervention strategies
- Contribute to a positive, respectful, and inclusive college culture
- Experience in a pastoral, mentoring, or student support role (preferably within post-16 education)
- Understanding of the challenges faced by college-age learners
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Calm, approachable, and resilient under pressure
- Enhanced DBS required (or willingness to obtain one)
