We have an exciting opportunity for an Occupational Therapist to join our highly valued, internal Care Provider - Caring For Thurrock within Thurrock Adult Social Care services. Caring for Thurrock is the internal care department of Thurrock Council Adult Social Care and is responsible for provision of Care for Thurrock residents. The team is a Multi Disciplinary Team working alongside colleagues within the Health Service in providing long term and reablement care to service users within Thurrock either within their own homes or Residential settings.
Occupational Therapists support Adults Social Care and are responsible for providing a range of support in accordance with the Local Authorities statutory duties under the Care Act 2014, the Housing and Regeneration Act 2008 and The Housing Act 2004.
The primary function of the role is to undertake an assessment of need within the relevant legislative frameworks above. Occupational Therapy Services work with adults of all ages and with a wide range of conditions, looking beyond a person's diagnoses and limitations; and focusing on the hopes and aspirations of the individual. The service looks at the relationships between the individual, the activities (occupations) they do every day and the environment / community in which they engage in their occupations. The range of interventions and support can be varied, but is predominately focused on information and advice, exploration of alternative ways of doing the everyday things people do, provision of Occupational Therapy related equipment, minor and major home adaptations, and access to other opportunities or support available within the wider health, housing and social care system.
Occupational Therapists are also responsible for the delivery of Integrated Community Equipment Loan Services across Thurrock and in partnership with Essex County Council and relevant Health Partners across the Essex footprint, supporting access to specialist equipment services for Adults, Children, Special Educational Needs and Health services.
As part of Caring For Thurrock, you will be working in a way that is both responsive and proportionate to supporting people to achieve their outcomes while providing support that is committed to safeguarding the most vulnerable. You must be able to work remotely and from sites within Thurrock as necessary to support the service. You will need to be able to collate information within Office 365 systems and spreadsheets etc… and attend regular meetings with internal and external customers.
Full Driving Licence and access to your own vehicle required for working in the Community - mileage paid at 45p per mile.
Key experience and skills:
- Supporting individuals with disability related needs
- Working within Health and Social Care settings
- Identifying specialist equipment and home adaptations design
- Degree in Occupational Therapy and HCPC registration
DBS: An Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check with Adults & Children's Barred List will be required.
