KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Clinical Duties Perform wound dressings and basic wound care under agreed protocols Assist with wound assessments and documentation Take and record wound measurements and photographs Apply compression bandaging following training and competency assessment Remove sutures and clips post-operatively Maintain accurate patient records on EMIS Ensure correct stock levels of wound care products Support patients during wound care procedures Patient Care Welcome patients and ensure their comfort during procedures Provide basic wound care advice and education Support patient dignity and privacy at all times Identify and escalate any concerns to senior team members Build therapeutic relationships with regular wound care patients Assist patients with mobility as required Administrative Book follow-up appointments and coordinate patient recalls Maintain clinic rooms and ensure equipment cleanliness Order and rotate wound care stock Input data for service monitoring and audits Support smooth running of daily clinics Team Working Work collaboratively with nurses and healthcare assistants Participate in team meetings and training sessions Cover colleagues during absence as required Contribute to service improvement initiatives Mentor new team members once competent PERSON SPECIFICATION Essential NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent Minimum 1 year experience in healthcare setting Basic wound care experience Good IT skills including experience with clinical systems Excellent communication skills Ability to work as part of a team Flexible approach to working hours Full UK driving licence and access to vehicle Desirable General Practice Assistant qualification EMIS clinical system experience Phlebotomy and ECG competencies Previous experience in primary care Wound care training or certification Experience working with elderly patients Understanding of infection control principles KEY COMPETENCIES Compassionate and caring approach Good manual dexterity for wound dressing procedures Attention to detail in clinical documentation Ability to follow protocols and guidelines Professional approach to patient care Reliable and punctual Willing to learn and develop new skills
