KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Clinical Support Assist qualified staff with wound dressing procedures Prepare clinical rooms and equipment for wound clinics Support patients during wound care procedures Help position patients comfortably for treatment Perform basic observations (blood pressure, pulse, temperature) as required Maintain infection control standards at all times Clean and prepare wound care equipment between patients Assist with simple dressing changes under supervision Patient Care Greet patients warmly and help them feel at ease Assist patients with mobility, including wheelchair transfers Ensure patient dignity and privacy during procedures Provide comfort and reassurance during treatments Report any patient concerns to qualified staff immediately Help patients understand basic wound care instructions Administrative Support Stock clinical rooms with wound care supplies Check expiry dates and rotate stock appropriately Maintain tidy and organised clinical areas Input basic data into computer systems File documents and maintain patient records Answer phones and direct queries appropriately Housekeeping Ensure clinical waste is disposed of correctly Maintain cleanliness of clinical areas to infection control standards Launder clinical items as required Report equipment faults or maintenance needs Ensure health and safety standards are maintained PERSON SPECIFICATION Essential Good standard of general education including English and Maths Caring and compassionate nature Excellent communication skills Ability to work as part of a team Reliable and punctual Flexible approach to duties Willingness to work enhanced hours Physical ability to assist patients with mobility Desirable Previous healthcare experience (paid or voluntary) NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent Experience working with elderly or vulnerable patients Basic IT skills Understanding of confidentiality in healthcare First aid qualification Moving and handling training KEY COMPETENCIES Patient and understanding approach Ability to remain calm under pressure Good organisational skills Attention to detail Professional appearance and manner Respectful of patient dignity Eager to learn new skills Non-judgmental attitude TRAINING PROVIDED Comprehensive Induction Including: Introduction to wound care basics Infection prevention and control Moving and handling techniques Basic life support Safeguarding awareness Health and safety Clinical waste management Patient confidentiality and data protection Ongoing Development: Opportunity to undertake Care Certificate Wound care assistant training Phlebotomy training (after probation) ECG training (after probation) Career development support WORKING PATTERN Rota includes: Monday-Friday day shifts Evening sessions 6:30pm-8:30pm (on rotation) Saturday mornings 8:00am-1:00pm (1 in 5) ADDITIONAL INFORMATION What We Offer: Competitive NHS salary NHS Pension Scheme 28 days annual leave plus bank holidays (pro rata) Excellent training and development opportunities Supportive team environment Clear career progression pathway Opportunity to make a real difference to patients' lives Career Development: This role provides an excellent foundation for healthcare career progression with opportunities to: Progress to General Practice Assistant role Pursue nursing career through apprenticeship Develop specialist wound care expertise Access funded training and qualifications IMPORTANT INFORMATION This role requires ability to travel between sites Enhanced DBS check required Occupational health clearance required References covering 3 years required
