About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and dynamic professional to work three days a week (preferably Monday to Wednesday) to lead on the development, delivery, promotion and evaluation of our schools learning programme across Leicestershire County Council’s five heritage sites: Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre, The 1620s House and Garden at Donington le Heath, Charnwood Museum, Harborough Museum and Melton Carnegie Museum. The role is a job share with a colleague who leads on the informal learning programme, working closely together to provide dynamic and engaging learning opportunities for all.
The role will need someone with an understanding of the National Curriculum, experience of working with formal and informal learning groups, developing formal and informal learning sessions, experience of budget and staff management, as well as website and social media work. Delivery of the programme will involve the post holder managing our education practitioners, including freelancers and salaried staff and working closely with front of house booking teams across the sites.
This is a maternity cover role for 9 months, with the potential to extend to 12 months.
Our mission is to offer an excellent, relevant and sustainable learning provision that meets the needs of a diverse audience, making efficient use of resources and maximises opportunities for income generation. The role will work alongside colleagues in the museum’s events and front of house teams and a wide range of colleagues across the Service.
About You
To apply for this post, you must have:
• NVQ Level 4, or equivalent level of experience
• Experience of managing a team and budgets
• Experience of developing and delivering national curriculum-based workshops and family-based learning
activities or resources
• Current knowledge of the National Curriculum and current issues affecting schools and colleges
• Proficient IT skills, including the ability to effectively use Microsoft packages
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written, including the ability to resolve conflict and report
writing
• Excellent time management and the ability and willingness to travel to all five museums sites around the
county as necessary and working outside normal office hours at events and meetings.
You must also have an understanding of, and commitment to, equal opportunities, and the ability to apply this to all situations.
