RPS, a Tetra Tech company is looking for a Senior EIA Consultant to join us at one of our busy and vibrant offices in Oxford, London, Edinburgh, Cardiff or Manchester. This role can be hybrid and either full-time or part-time hours.

About the Team

Our EIA team is working on some of the most exciting projects in the UK and internationally, including offshore and onshore wind farms, solar and battery storage projects, airports and data centres. We combine this with the opportunity to work on a of range of smaller EIA projects, providing our team with opportunities to rapidly gain experience across a range of project types and sectors.

Our projects include:

Offshore wind and transmission projects, including the recently consented Mona Offshore Wind Project, as well as work for Morgan and Morecambe Offshore Wind Farms and Ossian.
Airports, including Gatwick and Manston.
A range of large-scale solar projects, including those at all stages of the DCO process (from site selection/design through to the Examination stage).
A range of DNS onshore wind projects in Wales.
Onshore wind, battery storage and feasibility studies in Scotland.

What you will be doing:

This role would be a great move for an experienced Senior Consultant who is ready for the next stage in their career. This role will increase your experience across a variety of projects from small to large long-term flagship projects.

You’ll be working within a multi-disciplinary environment with highly experienced and collaborative colleagues. There is a genuine ethos of ensuring a good work/life balance within this diverse and friendly team. You will have the opportunity to be part of a highly regarded team, including leading industry experts as well as partner with the wider RPS sustainability, climate change, planning, landscape, ecology, heritage, health and transport teams.

A typical week could include:

Forming a key part of project teams for some of the largest and most prominent EIA projects in the UK.
Working as a primary point of contact for clients on our small to medium-sized projects.
Attending project meetings with topic teams and internal and external clients.
Managing key elements of the EIA process, such as author briefings, cumulative assessments and survey programmes.
Project management, including financial planning.
Working with topic authors to deliver topic chapters on programme and in line with our high quality standards.
Drafting reports, including project descriptions, non-technical summaries, scoping report and bid documents.
Technical review of ES deliverables.
Provision of advice regarding all aspects of EIA, including responding to stakeholder and legal queries.
Working with our digital and design teams to further develop our capacity in digital EIA.
Mentoring junior or new members of the team.
We welcome applicants who specialise in EIA, as well as applicants who are keen to combine this role with work with our sustainability and climate team, as well as applicants with technical writing skills for relevant topics, such as ecology, hydrology and socio-economics.
Who we are looking for:

You will need to have excellent writing skills, be able to work collaboratively and have the ability to work with others. A good eye for detail is essential as is strong problem-solving skills, helping to address client concerns and ‘make complex easy’.

We would like you to have:

Experience of working in a consultancy environment, including experience as part of EIA project management teams (essential).
Experience in reviewing EIA deliverables, with a good understanding of what the EIA Regulations require (essential).
Good financial project management skills (essential).
An eye for detail (essential).
Excellent people skills, to ensure seamless working with clients and colleagues (essential).
Willingness to travel to client meetings/workshops, consultation events and to other RPS Tetra Tech offices (essential).
Experience in working on NSIPs/DCO projects (desirable).
A related technical area of expertise, or experience in writing technical assessments, such as hydrology, climate change, ecology or air quality (desirable)
There will be some travel so a full UK driving license is required.
Qualifications:

A first degree in a relevant environmental subject and ideally an MSc in a relevant topic e.g. Environmental Impact Assessment, Environmental Management or similar
