Crynodeb

In this role you will provide direct support for all aspects of the Management and technical aspects of Surveillance and Target Acquisition (STA) equipment.

The successful applicant will be dealing with various personnel from different organisations, in the UK and around the World, relating to the operations of STA equipment and how STA equipment works. You will need to keep abreast of developments outside the MOD that could be used to improve the MOD’s equipment.

The role requires a technically competent person who can understand the detail behind work with little supervision as it is largely independent. You will need to be comfortable with using your initiative and being able to make and accept responsibility for your decisions. You will become the Subject Matter Expert on the capabilities you manage and have a working familiarity of implementing and managing Through Life Support methodologies.

The role is critical in delivering engineering advice to Equipment Safety Notices and contributing to Safety and environmental panels. There may also be a need for you to take on the role of safety Accountable Person for a particular capability. On the job safety training can be provided.

Your main responsibilities will include:

You will be responsible for the Through Life Support management of your Equipment portfolio. This currently stands at 30 equipment/project across 6 Defence.
Equipment &Support Project Teams, ranging from Surveillance and Target Acquisition to Dismounted Close Combat capabilities.

You are responsible for liaising with key Stakeholders, internal and external to Army Headquarters, to ensure defence requirements are met
You represent Field Army Equipment Branch as the Through Life Support Subject.

Matter Expert for safety issues relating to equipment within your portfolio
Your role undertakes fleet management activities including involvement with fielding of new equipment against published plans and re-distribution of equipment following organisational changes.

You are responsible for contributing to the availability management of your portfolio and Accountable to Assistant Chief Of Staff, Equipment Branch for the delivery and sustianment of Through Life Support against agreed funding, supply/demand plans and objectives set in the Command Acquisition Support Plan.

Your role provides continuity and substitutes for military Desk Officers within Through Life Support when posts are temporarily gapped, during periods of leave or detached duty (eg training courses)
