Summary

Comprehensive coherence across Army digital and Data projects and programmes is vital for safe and responsible AI adoption, aligning with Ministry of Defence and government standards. Legal and ethical policies, established in collaboration with the Directorate Army Legal Services, will ensure AI use compliance with evolving legislation. Robust risk management processes are essential for AI reliability, security, and accountability. Regular reviews and updates of these strategies will adapt to emerging threats, ensuring Army resilience against potential AI-associated risks.

This opportunity will place you at the centre of data and digital transformation, particularly in the use and development of AI technology and services, driving efficiency and optimisation of data across the Army, it will require you to work across directorates and closely with Defence level organisations. The need for data and digital skills and capabilities is growing exponentially, and you will be able to influence much of this at the start of the transformation journey

You will:

Champion Modern Ways of Working: Drive the coherence of use and ethics around the Army’s adoption of AI in accordance with Defence /cross government and Army design Authority policies and direction
Empower Decision-Making: Develop and deploy AI-driven dashboards and tools that provide actionable insights to leadership, enabling data-driven decision-making at all levels
Drive Cultural Change: Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement by championing the use of digital technologies and AI across the directorate, providing training and support to empower teams to embrace new ways of working
Collaborate for Success: Partner with Defence Digital, Head Office, and the Strategic Hub to ensure alignment with broader MOD digital / AI strategies and leverage best practices
Shape the Future: Stay at the forefront of digital and AI advancements, continuously exploring new applications and opportunities to enhance the directorate's capabilities

In this role, you will help to drive the cross digital project/programme coherence and ethics around the use of AI across the Army’s digital and data ecosystem.

You will:

Engage and collaborate with multiple Army digital initiatives across all parts of the force, as well as with Defence, government and industry partners
Be committed to and champion the safe and responsible use of AI
Manage a community of interest around Army AI activity, communicating clearly, enthusiastically and effectively.
