Location: Multiple Sites in Central Birmingham (B10, B12, B23, B32)
Pay: From £95 per day (PAYE)
Contract: Full-Time, Ongoing
Start Date: September 2025

We're working with a forward-thinking Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Birmingham that supports around 440 learners referred by the Local Authority. Each student comes with their own story - some have been permanently excluded, others are in care, many are living with the effects of trauma, anxiety, or significant social and emotional needs.
About the Learners:
You could be working with students who:

Have an EHCP for social, emotional, or mental health (SEMH) needs

Are at risk of exclusion or already permanently excluded from mainstream school

Are looked after children without a current school placement

Face barriers to learning linked to anxiety, difficult life experiences, or complex home situations

The Role:
As a Teaching Assistant in this PRU, your role is all about connection, encouragement, and consistency. You'll provide 1:1 and small group support, helping learners engage with education while also developing social skills, emotional resilience, and trust in themselves and others.
Day-to-Day You Will:

We're Looking For Someone Who:

Has experience in PRUs, alternative provision, or SEMH-focused roles (ideal but not essential)

Can remain calm and consistent under pressure, using empathy to manage challenging behaviour
