Please see the full Job Description and Person Specification for all responsibilities: Clinical Research1. Work with Delivery Team to deliver on trials involving children and young people.2. Work independently and autonomously to manage complex trial portfolio and able to delegate where appropriate.3. Screening and recruiting eligible patients to research studies.4. Working closely with Senior Clinical Research Nurse, Senior Clinical Research Practitioners and Delivery Team Lead to ensure structure and organisation for the delivery team (applicable to Band 7).5. Assist the Investigators to identify patients to take part in research studies, ensuring adherence to the protocol.6. Liaise with all relevant clinical staff where research is being conducted.7. Be directly involved in feasibility for projects where support is required.8. Ensure participants are recruited to study timelines, and, report any concerns to Research Delivery Lead.9. Ensure accurate data is collected and entered according to sponsor timelines.10. Report any anomalies in data to the relevant Sponsor, lead Investigator and Delivery Lead.11. Report any protocol deviations to the relevant Sponsor, lead Investigator and Delivery Lead.12. Report any protocol violations to relevant Sponsor, lead Investigator and Delivery Lead.13. Arrange and support study monitoring visits and audits when required.14. Have understanding of research methodologies in order to apply those to process.15. Have knowledge and understanding of UK systems in relation to regulatory bodies (e.g. REC, MHRA), as well as understanding of NHS support costs funding environments and clinical research network structures.16. Ensure compliance with GCP and required regulations.17. Ensure that relevant SOPs are implemented, and contribute to development of new SOPs when required.18. Ensure that departmental working practice documents (WPDs) are followed and implemented and contribute to the development of new WPDs.19. Ensure that studies recruitment and finance logs/Edge are kept up to date.20. Establish communication with relevant MDTs and clinical teams to support research.21. Establish and maintain good channels of communication with other departments within the Trust as well as externally (e.g. liaising with Sponsors, CRAs and academic institutions regarding study set-up and progress).22. Establish good trial documentation management systems, and tracking for recruitment.23. Support & deputise for Research Delivery Lead as and when required (applicable to Band 7).24. Any other relevant duties as and when required.25. Support established engagement initiatives (e.g. research nurse champions, student nurse placements) and help to develop further engagement initiatives where needed. Leadership26. Championing best practice alongside Senior Clinical Research Nurse and providing peer support where required.27. Lead on training team on best practice related to the care of children and young people. 28. Act as a role model for other members of the team.29. Get involved with research engagement and patient and public involvement activities.30. Engage in delivery of any changes.31. Ensure that departmental as well as Trust policies are adhered to.32. Assist with induction and training of new staff. Clinical1. Use nursing skills and knowledge to uphold patient safety in clinical trials.2. Up to date with all relevant clinical skills and related policies, such as medication administration, infection control and sharps management.3. Willingness to undertake further training for clinical skills needed to deliver trials (e.g. cannulation) and create training and development opportunities for clinical research nurses.4. Co-operate with medical and research staff in dealing with patient care problems associated with research.5. Identify research training needs of clinical research nurses and ensure adhering to research competencies.6. Ensure working to the NMC code of conduct and up to date with nursing related practices e.g. re-validation.
