We are looking for an enthusiastic, ambitious and motivated individual who is keen to develop their skills to become a registered Pharmacy Technician.You will need to be a good communicator, have good attention to detail and be able to work well within a team environment.
You will be working in a busy, friendly department and will be given full training, support and supervision throughout the 2 year training contract to achieve the skills required to be become a qualified Pharmacy Technician.
Training is based on a two year programme leading to a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians qualification. You will be required to attend college one day a week face to face or via distance learning, and in the workplace you will undertake a comprehensive in-house training programme provided by our own pharmacy team
After successfully completing the two year course you will be eligible to register as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council.

Pharmacy Technicians work in a variety of settings and play an important role in supporting patients with their medicines. They undertake a wide range of duties which can include dispensing and accuracy checking of prescribed items, taking a medication history from patients, stock procurement and distribution, and issuing of medicines.
As a Pre-Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician you will:
Participate in a structured training programme delivered in partnership with an education provider.
Gain hands-on experience in the hospital pharmacy, including dispensary, pharmacy procurement and ward-based services.
Support pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and pharmacy assistants in providing safe, effective, and efficient pharmacy services.
Balance work-based learning and study time to meet educational and professional standards set by the GPhC.
Moseley Hall Hospital is based in suburb of Moseley, in the diverse city of Birmingham.
Moseley Hall is a community hospital offering general medical and sub-acute care, with admissions coming via the local acute NHS trusts or direct from the community. A core part of our role is rehabilitation to enable patients to transfer home or to an appropriate care setting, on clinically appropriate medication.
We are a small, friendly forward thinking team that is currently expanding, providing a ward based pharmacy service. Patient experience and safety is at the centre of everything we do.
Support, mentoring and further training will be provided to the successful candidate, to ensure that you fulfil your potential in this new challenging role. You will be actively encouraged to contribute to service development and quality improvement.
To apply for the post as a minimum you will require GCSE grade C/4 or above in English, Maths and Science plus 3 other subjects at grade C/4 or above.
Applicants with a Pharmacy Services Level 2 qualification (or equivalent) with current pharmacy experience who also hold functional skills level 2 (or equivalent) in Maths and English will be considered.
Those with higher level qualifications in science or humanities must also have evidence of GCSE Maths and English at grade C/4 or above (or equivalent).
Apprenticeship funding rules will apply, therefore certificates for all required qualifications must be seen at interview. If you hold overseas qualifications you will need confirmation that they are equivalent to the grades/levels stated.
To succeed with this training role you will need to have good attention to detail and a high level of accuracy. Good IT skills and excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
