Summary
The Acute Occupational Therapy Inpatient Team provides assessment and treatment programmes to clients on the three Adults inpatient wards (Sunflower, Tulip and Daisy). The Team provides both Specialist Therapy assessments to clients and offers aneedsled, client centred individual and group-based Activity and TherapyProgrammeon the wards and in the therapy department which islocated a few yardsoff the wards.
Clients on the inpatient wards present with acute or enduring mental health symptoms, and often have other co-existing diagnoses which may include a range of physical diagnoses. Some clients have been detained under the Mental Health Act and may need skilled support in integrating back in the community following admission to hospital.
The therapy role within the team often involves functional assessments andprovidingprofessional advice which actively informs the teams risk assessments and discharge plans. The team works collaboratively with the wards’ Multi-Disciplinary Teams.
The Team Leader provides a professional leadership role to members of the Occupational Therapy Inpatient Teamtoensure that the team works in partnership with other disciplines to provide an integrated Occupational Therapy service to the inpatients on the 3 adult wards.
