About the HR Advisor Role
We’re looking for a proactive and knowledgeable HR Advisor to join our team and deliver a high-quality HR service across Forge Holiday Group and its subsidiaries - Sykes Cottages, Forest Holidays, UKcaravans4hire.
In this role, you’ll provide expert guidance on HR policies, procedures, and terms and conditions of employment. You’ll support line managers across the organisation, offering advice on complex, sensitive, and sometimes contentious employee relations matters, while building strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
As a key member of the HR Operations Team, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring our HR practices align with company policies, legal requirements, and employment best practice. Your expertise will help shape a positive and compliant working environment across the group.
HR Advisor Responsibilities:
Provide expert HR advice and guidance to managers, ensuring early resolution of complex or sensitive employee relations issues while maintaining confidentiality.
Coach and support managers in interpreting and applying HR policies and procedures in line with employment legislation and internal frameworks.
Manage a range of employee relations cases including recruitment, probation, performance, disciplinary, grievance, sickness absence, and flexible working requests.
Liaise with Occupational Health and support formal investigations and hearings, both remotely and in person.
Contribute to the implementation of people strategies and initiatives in collaboration with the Senior HR Business Partner, Group HR Director, and wider HR team.
Maintain accurate and timely records, and produce written and verbal reports as required.
Support the development and review of HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legislation and best practice.
Collaborate with colleagues across the People Team (Recruitment, HR Services, Payroll, L&D, Health & Safety) to provide consistent support and guidance.
Participate in ongoing professional development, performance reviews, and team objectives, including attending meetings and training.
Stay up to date with employment legislation and internal policy changes, ensuring compliance in all HR activities.
Assist in producing people-related MI data and performance reports.
Support the delivery of line manager training to build HR capability across the organisation through coaching and casework involvement.
What We’re Looking For:
We’re looking for someone passionate about people and HR, with the technical expertise and business insight to make a real impact. To thrive in this role, you’ll need to bring:
CIPD Level 3 qualified (or equivalentT
Experience in a HR Officer, HR Advisor, or similar role
Confident advising managers on: Sickness absence, Disciplinary and grievance matters, Performance improvement etc.
Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice
Able to interpret policies and provide clear, practical advice
High level of discretion and professionalism with confidential information
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Willing and able to travel regularly, including to our Chester Head Office
Access to suitable transport for regional travel
Nice to Have:
Operational experience of leading on TUPE, restructure and redundancy processes.
Knowledge of relevant job evaluation frameworks and experience of conducting job evaluation and salary benchmarking.
Supporting with the delivery of in-house people management and leadership training and workshops to line managers
