Band 10 £41,771 - £44,075 per annum + Essential Car User allowance
Full Time (37 Hours) Permanent
Based at the Guildhall, Marshall’s Yard, Gainsborough (with provision to work from home)

West Lindsey is one of the largest districts in England and forms part of Lincolnshire, situated to the immediate north of the historic city of Lincoln. We are a predominantly rural district, with an administrative centre in Gainsborough on the River Trent, and the historic market towns of Market Rasen and Caistor to the east, nestling into the Lincolnshire Wolds, a National Landscape.

A fantastic opportunity is now available to join the Council’s Development Management Service. Working in a senior role, and within a team that consistently achieves outstanding performance, you will be at the forefront of delivering an ambitious growth programme through the Central Lincolnshire Local Plan. The Development Management Team receives over 1,500 applications a year for planning permission, listed building consent, advertisement consent and other development-related applications. We receive more than 50 applications a year for major developments, including residential, commercial, agricultural and renewable energy developments.

We are seeking to recruit an outcome-focused Planning Officer, dedicated to achieving high-quality developments with a thorough understanding of current and emerging planning policy and legislation. You will need to be ready to hit the ground running with a diverse caseload of applications, from more complex non-major developments through to major residential, commercial and agricultural schemes. You will benefit from flexible working, a minimum of 29 days annual leave and an essential car user allowance.

To be eligible for this role, candidates must have at minimum of 2 years’ experience directly with Development Management, hold (or be working towards) membership of the RTPI and able to demonstrate a track record of excellent service delivery, working to tight deadlines and display strong communication and customer service skills.

To apply: for application documentation, job description and person specification, please click the Apply button at the bottom of the page.

Please note we do not accept CV’s as a form of application.

Applicants will be subject to a Basic DBS check.

All recruitment correspondence, including interview invites will be sent out via email.

Closing date: Monday 1st September 2025
Interview date: 11-12th September 2025

The Council has a commitment to equal opportunities and welcomes applicants from all sections of the community. Also we operate a no smoking policy.
