An exciting opportunity has arisen at West Lindsey District Council to join the Democratic Services Team working with Members and Officers at all levels of the organisation.
The role holder will be responsible for developing, planning and delivering all aspects of the Elected Members’ Training Plan, including developing the on-line training offer, to provide Members with access to good quality training to enable them to fulfil their duties to the best of their ability.
This role will also manage all aspects of protocol and procedure and provide direct support to the Chairman and Vice Chairman of the council. You will manage and coordinate all civic functions and related activities on behalf of the council, including events of significant reputational importance, to the highest possible standard.
The role holder will develop and implement initiatives aimed at increasing both wider public engagement in the democratic process and specifically awareness of Democracy within local schools, whilst supporting the wider team providing administrative support to some committee meetings.
You must be enthusiastic and able to demonstrate a high level of administration and organisational skills. Excellent communication skills are essential, as are diplomacy, tact, and attention to detail.
Although the hours are 37 per week, this is not a 9 to 5 job as the post holder will be required to attend regular evening meetings / training sessions. You will also be expected to work additional hours, possibly including weekends, at peak times.
