Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service is the largest non-metropolitan Fire and Rescue Service in England. We provide prevention, protection, and response services across the counties of Devon and Somerset.
Our vision is that together, we will work to end preventable fire and rescue emergencies, creating a safer world for you and your family. Keeping people safe is what we do, and we owe our fantastic reputation to our highly skilled and motivated workforce.
This is an exciting opportunity to joining a team which supports the Service in achieving its statutory obligations in compliance risk management. The Information Compliance team is part of the wider Information and Data Governance Function that sits within the Digital Data and Technology Department. Responding to information requests from internal and external sources, investigating security events, assessing information processing risks and raising awareness make this role an exciting, challenging and value adding asset to the Service.
This role would suit an individual who enjoys problem solving, helping others, has a strong attention to detail, great communication skills and is confident making decisions around statutory and operational guidance.
This role can be completed largely from home, or any local Service premises, with the expectation that the successful candidate will come to SHQ when required. Currently there is mandatory attendance at a monthly team meeting with the wider Information and data Governance function.
Key responsibilities include:
Managing requests for information via the UK GDPR, Freedom of Information Act and Environmental Information Regulations.
Assessing information processing risk via Data Protection Impact Assessments.
Investigating reported security events, mitigating risk and analysing trends.
Delivering training and awareness on good IG practice.
If you have any queries or would like to speak to someone and find out more about the role, please contact Ola Young via Oyoung@dsfire.gov.uk
Closing Date: 2359hrs 29th Aug 2025
