Banbury Masjid is seeking three dedicated and passionate Religious Workers to join our team. These roles are integral to the spiritual, educational, and cultural life of our masjid and wider community.
Key Responsibilities:
• Teach Arabic Phonology (Tajweed and Qira’at) to staff, students, and congregation members.
• Provide training in the correct pronunciation and melody of the Adhān (call to prayer).
• Lead Taraweeh prayers during the holy month of Ramadhan, alongside the resident Imam.
• Assist with non-pastoral duties, educational programmes, and tutor development.
• Actively engage with and support the wider community in religious and educational initiatives.
Essential Requirements:
• Hafidh of the Qur’an with strong command of Tajweed and Qira’at.
• Fluent in Arabic, with proficiency in Urdu and English highly desirable.
• Minimum qualification equivalent to GCSE and Basic Religious Education.
• Experience working within a Sunni Sufi religious organisation, with knowledge of traditional practices.
• Prior involvement in a similar role, preferably with an NGO or faith-based organisation.
• Ability to teach Arabic phonology and various Qira’at confidently and effectively.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
