Are you an enthusiastic and reliable grounds maintenance operative?
We are looking for dynamic people to maintain the gardens, parks and open spaces in and around the local area.
The Dover District Council area is the part of South East England that is nearest to mainland Europe. The area covers approximately 121 square miles and includes three main towns, Dover, Deal and Sandwich as well as dozens of picturesque villages and hamlets which make East Kent such an attractive and popular place to live and work.
The Dover District is steeped in history, with the iconic White Cliffs of Dover, several castles including the Lord Warden of Cinque Ports residence, Walmer Castle. As well as the coastline, the District has wonderful countryside, lush valleys and beautiful parks and gardens.
The Role & Responsibilities:
Working as part of the Council’s in-house Parks & Open Spaces Team, the role involves the following aspects of maintenance:
- Grass Cutting, Strimming, Weeding, Pruning, Planting, Litter Picking and Hedge Cutting.
Who We Are Looking For?
Due to the demands of the role, the successful candidate should have:
- Proven experience in grounds maintenance.
- Competence in using the appropriate power tools, where required.
- Be physically fit.
- Certificates in spraying (PA1 PA6), Horticulture and Ride on Mowers (would be an advantage but not essential).
What Can We Offer?
We can provide a friendly and supportive environment for you to excel in. We also offer several employee benefits, subject to eligibility criteria, such as:
- Benenden Healthcare Membership and access to an Employee Assistance Programme.
- An Opt-in Local government pension scheme with the opportunity for staff to make advanced, voluntary contributions (AVCs) to top up their pension.
- A generous annual leave provision.
- A discount scheme including reduced membership rates at the local leisure centre.
- On-site parking.
- Cycle2Work scheme (eligibility criteria applies)
- Generous Salary Sacrifice Car Scheme (eligibility criteria applies)
A full, clean and valid UK manual driving license is required for this role as the use of work vehicle is required.
As this role involves the use of vibration equipment, any offer of employment will be subject to satisfactory medical clearance. We will ask you to complete a medical questionnaire which will be sent to our occupational health medical advisor and as a result of this you may be asked to undergo a medical.
The quality of your application will be considered as part of the recruitment process.
