This is a Search Consultant role within the In-House Direct Sourcing Team (IDST), also known as the Executive Search Team, at the Cabinet Office. The team specializes in finding candidates for Deputy Director (Senior Civil Service 1) and Director (Senior Civil Service 2) roles across Government. The role requires an outward-facing, promotional/sales approach to search for, contact, and engage closely matched high quality candidates, and encourage them to apply.
Key activities include:
- Developing search strategies and engaging prospects;
- Conducting in-depth research to create prospect lists;
- Collaborating with the Campaign Management Team to ensure a high-quality service;
- Building relationships across the Civil Service, and externally;
- Participating in campaign planning meetings;
- Leading search activity on multiple live campaigns (2-3 per month) and also contributing/supporting on others (1-2 per month).
You will be joining the highly successful In-House Direct Sourcing Team (IDST) also known as the Executive Search Team who specialise in helping Departments search the market and hunt for candidates to fill Deputy Director (Senior Civil Service 1) and Director (Senior Civil Service 2) roles across Government.
As a member of the team, you will be given a special license to search for, contact and convince suitable candidates to apply for specific SCS roles across Government. This role will therefore suit someone with previous Executive Search or experienced in an outward-facing role within a high-end promotional/sales environment.
You will be part of a team overseen by an experienced head-hunter and led day-to-day by our experienced senior search consultant and supported by 2 experienced search consultants. The team is complemented by an exceptional Researcher and Coordinator.
The work will vary daily, and demand an ability to work at considerable pace, demonstrate flexibility and be a good team worker that is able to flex between dealing with a range of campaigns where we are searching for professionals in scarce or hard-to-recruit markets or locations. We are therefore looking for confident self-starters who are comfortable working in a sales/promotional capacity, selling the Civil Service and the campaigns we’re appointed to work on.
The main activities are likely to include; (this is not an exhaustive list);
- Working closely with the Senior Search Consultant and your Search Team colleagues to develop search strategies, carry out desk-based research and actively engage prospects to apply for specific SCS roles;
- Taking detailed briefing from customers then undertaking in-depth and intense desk based research to create prospect lists;
- Working in close collaboration with the Campaign Management Team to ensure campaigns are delivered to the highest standards of quality and offering excellent customer service;
- Building good working relationships and rapport across the Civil Service and externally with our customers and prospects for which a confident, engaging and articulate manner will be essential;
- Participating in planning meetings with vacancy and making detailed records of discussions;
- Quickly building up within 2-3 months to leading the search activity on at least 2-3 live campaigns each month as well as supporting colleagues on 1-2 campaigns;
- Expertly delivering our search campaigns and providing expert advice and guidance to potential candidates for senior and challenging roles;
- Demonstrating the ability to work independently and at pace but knowing when to escalate.
