Crynodeb
As an apprentice, you’ll be learning directly from skilled tradesmen on real jobs across Devon, gaining the knowledge and experience to build a proper career in the trade.
During the apprenticeship, you’ll learn how to lay bricks and blocks to a high standard, mix and use mortar, measure and set out accurately, cut and point brickwork, and read plans and building specifications.
Your duties will include assisting with setting out and measuring, mixing mortar, loading out materials, and laying bricks and blocks under supervision. You’ll help with cutting and pointing brickwork, preparing work areas, and keeping the site clean and organised. You’ll also assist with installing lintels and padstones, learn how to read and follow building plans, and support the team with general masonry and structural tasks. Safe use of hand tools and equipment will be part of your daily responsibilities, along with maintaining a professional attitude on site.
Training
You will attend Exeter College one week per month to work towards your Bricklaying Level 2 Apprenticeship.
Qualifications required
GCSE or equivalent 4/C or above in English and Maths.

Good understanding of practical tasks
Follow instructions accurately
Prospects
Potential for full-time employment after apprenticeship if applicable.
