An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Major Programmes and Projects (MPP) Army team. The successful candidate will help to deliver critical Defence infrastructure for the Army. As Programme Manager you will be accountable and responsible for delivering complex Capital Infrastructure Delivery, with utmost focus on Performance, Cost & Time and proactively managing our supply chain to perform, ensuring delivery of both Life Cycle Replacement and/or Estate Optimisation outcomes. The positions will operate within MPP Army and as such will deliver infrastructure projects for Army Basing & Infrastructure. We are currently operating a hybrid working model with a requirement of at least 60% of your working time to be spent in the office or on a project site. One post will be located at Army HQ Andover, Hampshire or Imjin Barracks, Gloucester and the other post can be located at either Stafford, Whittington or Catterick - Please state your location preference on your application form.
In your day-to-day role you will find yourself undertaking the following:
Lead and drive collaborative working with the Army customer, suppliers, end users and internal subject matter experts to successfully deliver the required outcomes.
Manage, set up and deliver an allocated sub-programme of work, providing effective leadership of your team and effectively managing programme risks and dependencies, delivery reporting and working within a delegated budget.
Manage the appointment and subsequent performance of contractors to the appropriate commercial, financial and delivery standards.
Establish, line manage and develop the project team, providing guidance and coaching where required.
Problem solve, co-ordinate, deconflict and escalate any issues that arise, liaise closely with a variety of senior stakeholders, provide reports and detailed information as required.
Oversee the timely provision of high-quality data and information into Business Cases, ensuring credibility and deliverability and work collaboratively with the Army customer to secure business case approval.
Manage, check and test the financial propriety and application of due process to all projects within your area of responsibility, taking appropriate corrective action as needed.
Coordinating and where appropriate, deconfliction of numerous Defence Lines of Development (DLODs) impacting on Capital work projects to maintain momentum and avoid duplication.
