Our client is a medium-sized housing association in London who have an exciting opportunity for a Homeownership Officer to join the team and provide a professional and comprehensive leasehold management service to their homeowners.


You will manage your own patch of leasehold and shared ownership properties but will be required at the same time to effectively teamwork with your colleagues to provide a right first time, responsive and proactive service to their homeowners.
You will:

  • Be responsible for dealing with day-to-day enquiries relating to leasehold and shared ownership management.
  • Verification and checking of their annual service charges both estimated and actual for their homeowners including sinking funds.
  • Manage the Right to Acquire process for our residents including making sure that documents and processes are up to date and steps in the process are completed within the statutory timescales
  • Undertake formal and informal s.20 major work consultation from feasibility stage to the conclusion of the works; to work closely and assist Assets and other departments to identify the need for formal consultation under s.20 in respect of qualifying works, protecting the organisation from any potential financial loss or legal challenges by making an informed decision based on risk and consultation triggers.
  • Attend and arrange contractor meetings with leaseholders, individually or collectively, outside of the statutory consultation to discuss any specific queries or concerns about the project.
  • Ensure that s.20B notices (Landlord & Tenant Act 1985) are issued within 18 months of incurring the cost to comply with the statutory time limit.

To be considered for this role you will need:

  • Substantive experience of working in a front-line leasehold management services
  • Thorough knowledge of legislation and best practice relating to leasehold management
  • Experience of undertaking Section 20 consultation with leaseholders
  • Experience of verifying and calculating service charges
  • Experience of managing mixed tenure and Section 106schemes
  • Excellent English language skills (written and oral)
  • Excellent numeracy skills and be able to scrutinise complex accounts and budget information
