We are looking for experienced environmental professionals to join our teams that regulate waste and industrial installations across the East Anglian Region.
As a regulatory officer you will be at the forefront of protecting people and the environment from harm and securing environmental improvements. This is particularly important to deliver our aim to drive forward our climate ambitions and support green growth and net zero.
You will:
- undertake compliance assessment activities at a range of sites in sectors including food and drink, landfill, waste incineration, chemicals, combustion and radioactive substances.
- ensure permit compliance and make complex assessments of an operators' ability to protect the environment, prevent pollution and optimise use of resources. At times you will set conditions under which a site may continue to operate and enforce these.
- use your influencing and negotiating skills to secure best practice, often dealing with people at senior levels within industry and local communities.
- respond to and investigate incidents across our portfolio of sites, making sure preventive and protective action is implemented.
Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.
In East Anglia we want to create a diverse workplace where people are respected, valued and listened to. We’re all different, and by embracing Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) we can become an equal opportunity employer where jointly we all grow and learn together.
It is our ambition to champion diversity through building a workforce as diverse as the communities we serve.
