To support us in this work, we are now recruiting for a full-time Press Officer working 35 hours per week on a permanent contract, joining our Communications team. This role is based at the Science Museum in London, working a minimum of 3 days pw on site.
About the role
As Press Officer you will support the team with developing and delivering fully PR campaigns that focus on our target audiences. You'll help with pitching stories to key target media and will handle media inquiries in a timely and appropriate manner. The role is varied - you may also supervise media and film crews, photoshoots, etc, and support the press team in organising and administering a range of events, including press previews, photocalls and news and documentary filming within the museum - as such, occasional out of hours working is required.
About you
Joining us, you will be interested in working for the Science Museum, and will bring experience working within a PR, press office, communications or journalistic role. You'll bring experience working on communications campaigns and will hold knowledge of the UK press and working with media. Effective interpersonal skills will be helpful in working collaboratively and credibly with media, partners and stakeholders as well as good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise complex and competing workloads under budget, resource and time pressures.
