A Vacancy at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
This exciting new role is a joint venture between UCLH and Leo Cancer Care, funded by UKRI, to provide senior dosimetry support for radiotherapy research and technical developments for upright radiotherapy for photons and protons.
The postholder will lead a large-scale treatment planning study comparing upright and supine radiotherapy techniques for photon and proton treatments. They will evaluate metrics for comparing treatment planning techniques, create plans on different upright and supine datasets, and evaluate methods to minimise treatment planning technique biases. The role will be embedded in the UCLH dosimetry team and will work alongside the research team at Leo Cancer Care.
Applicants should have HCPC state-registration or be eligible and have completed the BSc in therapeutic radiography or equivalent formal qualification. Applicants should also have clinical experience in planning, dosimetry and research activities
The role of this post is to work alongside the research team at Leo Cancer Care to evaluate and develop treatment planning techniques for upright radiotherapy. The post holder will create photon and proton plans on supine and upright scans. They will work closely with the dosimetry team at UCLH to understand the current treatment planning techniques and explore how these can be adapted for upright radiotherapy treatments. The post holder will have the opportunity to publish their results and build upon the literature surrounding upright radiotherapy. The post holder should be someone interested in transitioning towards a more research-focused role with an interest in problem-solving and innovation.
