This is a Fixed-term Appointment as Disclosure Case Manager in the Afghan Inquiry Response Unit. Your responsibilities will be as described in this job advert. The reason why you are appointed for a fixed period is due the duration of the Inquiry. This post will therefore begin on your appointment and will end on 01/03/2027. You should be aware that when your Fixed-term Appointment at MOD comes to an end, arrangements will be made in line with the FTA policy.
If you are a permanent MoD civil servant and are found successful for an advertised Fixed-term Appointment (FTA) you should move into the post under a Temporary Transfer (for up to a maximum of 23 months). At the end of the posting you will return to your previous MoD Business area. If this posting is at a higher grade, your promotion will be temporary, and you will return to your substantive grade at the end of the Temporary Transfer. If a Temporary Transfer cannot be agreed between all parties then a transfer on an FTA contract is possible, read the FTA and Change of Work Location in the UK policy for further information.
If you are transferring to MoD from another government department (OGD) you should join the MoD on an inward loan. At the end of the loan you will return to your home (OGD) department. If a loan cannot be agreed between all parties then a transfer on an FTA contract is possible, read the FTA policy for further information.
The role will focus on leading the large Disclosure Team (DT), specifically, our team of Assistant Case Managers as one of four HEOs, as well as supporting the DT Senior Management to deliver a high standard of disclosure within agreed deadlines whilst safeguarding compliance with Government security procedures, and supporting the MOD in ensuring that the Inquiry has a full evidence base to investigate matters within the Inquiry’s Terms of Reference.
Key responsibilities include:
Proactively lead, manage, train and motivate assistant case managers to ensure that disclosure exercises are completed to the required quality and within the given deadlines.
Responsibility for the day-to-day operation and delivery of the overall Inquiry Disclosure Program.
Working alongside the MOD’s legal team, delivery team and policy team to manage the evidence provided to the Inquiry.
Management of teams carrying out the Disclosure Quality Assurance processes, ensuring documents assessed and reviewed by Legal teams/Contractors meet the Inquiry and MOD guidelines as well as meeting the Inquiry’s specific requests.
Oversight and preparation of all hearing related documents and bundles.
