An opportunity has arisen within the Department of Clinical Chemistry for an enthusiastic, highly motivated HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist to join the team.
The department is situated in a purpose-built state of the art laboratory and provides routine biochemistry testing to all inpatients, outpatients and GP surgeries in the Mansfield & Ashfield and Newark & Sherwood areas. The laboratory is equipped with Roche Cobas Chemistry/Immunoassay analysers and pre/post analytics. The Department has full UKAS accreditation and HCPC/IBMS training status, with active encouragement for CPD participation.
Strong scientific and technical knowledge are vital, as is the ability to manage the demands of independent work within our team and whilst lone working. Also essential are good organisational and interpersonal skills, a keen eye for detail and the ability to maintain high levels of concentration.
After an initial period of training, you will be expected to participate in the department’s 24/7 shift system.
Flexible working is a requirement for this post and the department operates a 24/7 shift system including weekend and bank holiday rotas in which you will be expected to participate once trained.
Please refer to attached job description for the main duties and responsibilities of the job.
We are an award-winning NHS Foundation Trust working alongside health and social care colleagues across the county to provide acute and community healthcare services to more than 420,000 people across Mansfield, Ashfield, Newark and Sherwood, and parts of Derbyshire and Lincolnshire.
We put the patient at the heart of everything that we do and it is our aim to make sure that every patient is treated as we would want a member of our own family to be treated. At the same time, we expect our staff to be caring, kind and courteous to each other and to look out for each other. We believe that we are truly a clinically-led organisation.
We are proud that our Trust colleagues have voted us the best acute Trust to work for in the East Midlands for seven years running in the National NHS Staff Survey, while the Care Quality Commission has rated our Trust as ‘outstanding’ for care and our King’s Mill Hospital as the only ‘outstanding’ NHS-run hospital in the East Midlands.
