Pay rate: £13.47 per hour PAYE
Working Arrangement: On site - Driving licence required. There is onsite vehicle for use, to travel between two sites.
The role:
On behalf of a local council, we are seeking a Building Repairs Assistant/ Facilities Assistant to deliver an outstanding service for a Bottle Yard Studio by delivering operational effectiveness and efficiency and by supporting other colleagues across the service to deliver safe, secure and well-presented site(s) and services.
You will assist in minor repairs, plumbing, fabric repairs, carpentry and statutory checks. Assisting in general maintenance tasks, H&S documents upkeep, across two sites, half a mile apart.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the day-to-day maintenance and operational effectiveness of buildings and facilities. This will include statutory compliance-related checks appropriate to the grade as well as involvement in other maintenance tasks.
Support the wider Buildings Maintenance team with the delivery of site improvement and maintenance projects, including delivery of minor projects in line with your role.
Provide day-to-day support to sites, actively trouble-shooting problems to ensure that the studios are operating at maximum efficiency.
Arrange contractors work where appropriate, to escort them on-site and oversee completion within the parameters of health and safety and quality.
Assist the Team in maintaining the premises Health and Safety files and documents, by undertaking a series of regular equipment and facilities checks
Take part in and support an ongoing active housekeeping program to ensure the buildings and grounds are kept presentable to clients and tenants at all times.
Undertake general caretaking tasks to include, office moves, meeting room set ups and locking and locking spaces in line with studios operational needs.
What the client is looking for:
Proven experience in general building maintenance including basic plumbing, carpentry, and fabric repairs.
Ability to carry out minor repairs and support statutory compliance checks (e.g., emergency lighting tests, fire alarm checks, and water temperature checks).
Familiarity with Health & Safety regulations in a facilities or studio environment.
Experience using basic hand and power tools for day-to-day repair tasks.
Ability to troubleshoot building issues and carry out first-response maintenance tasks.
Experience assisting with caretaking duties such as room setups, office moves, and site security (locking/unlocking).
Ability to support and liaise with contractors, escorting and supervising work on-site to ensure standards are met.
Comfortable working across multiple sites, with strong organisational skills to manage time and priorities effectively.
Experience maintaining Health & Safety documentation and equipment check logs.
Understanding of statutory requirements related to building safety and ability to support in keeping sites compliant.
