We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 4 administrator to join our Blood and Marrow Transplant Team based in the Cancer and Haematology Centre at the Churchill Hospital.
The postholder will work with the BMT Specialist Nurses providing essential administrative support to ensure the smooth running of the BMT patient and sibling donor pathways.
Previous NHS experience is desirable but full training will be given.
The successful applicant will need to be able to demonstrate excellent organisational skills, possess a high standard of professionalism with the ability to work effectively in time-pressured situations. As a key element of this post will be to liaise with patients, donors and clinicians, you will also need to possess excellent interpersonal skills.
The post holder will be responsible for supporting the work of the BMT Nurse Specialists through:
• Facilitating the smooth running of the BMT patient pathway
• Supporting patients and donors through the process ensuring all investigations are carried out as planned
• Co-ordinating the Stem Cell Discard Programme
• Arranging follow up tests for sibling donors and ensuring test results are available for review by BMT nurses.
• Capturing BMT data

• Proven administrative experience in a busy customer focussed environment
• Previous experience in communicating effectively with patients and relatives within a professional work environment
• Proven ability to make decisions using own initiative to resolve problems and provide solutions
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to be sensitive and compassionate towards patients and relatives
• High level of IT competency
