As Technical Application Service Specialist, you'll bring your expertise to the table, driving technical discussion in live support management and delivery in key areas. You'll focus on solving complex challenges with your specialised knowledge taking ownership of critical BAU business management and delivery within your team. In this role, you'll lead way in shaping the direction of our BAU software management and solutions, to make impactful decisions and drive success. You'll collaborate closely with the engineers, operations and business customers to support feature development and continuous improvements and delivery excellence.
New Payments Architecture is a regulatory initiative that will change UK payments as we know them. Working closely with industry, the Instant Payments lab is replacing the complexity of the existing payments landscape with a new, more efficient infrastructure that will benefit from enhanced security and resilience.This multi-million-pound initiative has a new partnership with a leading FinTech company and is looking for dedicated individuals who are interested in working with new and exciting technologies, such as Cloud and Software as a Service (SaaS).

What you'll need…

Strong experience in 24*7 BAU OPS management to support e2e business processing journeys. It's a 24*7 support model with colleagues working on rotation basis.

Previous experience or knowledge on proactive monitoring of OCP/KAFKA process and alerts.

Working experience of daily incidents and alerts managements including maintenance and review of the logs.

Demonstrate technical proficiency to troubleshoot and diagnose issues using tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, and Kibana.

Strong experience of reporting impacts, reconciliation and stakeholder engagement as part of incident management follow-ups

Working experience of managing and communicating with vendor for incidents and process improvements.

Working experience of reviewing, clash managing and supporting change management in discussion with CAB supporting BAU events like DRs, Penetration testing and third-party changes.

Demonstrate understanding of the entire application stack, with both breadth and depth, and possess exposure to microservices technologies, particularly Java 17, Spring Boot, Maven, Kafka K Stream, as well as RESTful APIs and web services.

Possess basic knowledge of development best practices and patterns, with an understanding of CD/CI pipelines, preferably Jenkins or similar tools.

Possess basic knowledge and experience in agile development practices, continuous integration, and test automation (e.g., TDD, BDD, Cucumber, Gherkin)

Possess experience working with cloud-based tools such as IBM Cloud Private, Google GCP, MS Azure, and Amazon AWS.

Kubernetes/Open Shift Container experience is a bonus.

Demonstrate familiarity with the banking sector, particularly with Faster Payments scheme and BACS payments scheme.
