At St Brendan’s Sixth Form College, people are at the heart of everything we do – from our incredible students to the dedicated staff who support them. We’re looking for an empathetic, skilled, and proactive HR Advisor to join our growing People Team and help shape a high-quality, people-first HR service across the College.
Why this role is for you:
This is more than a policy-based position — it’s an opportunity to be part of a small but ambitious team that values warmth, creativity, and doing things the right way. You’ll be the first point of contact for managers, a supportive voice during employee matters, and a driving force for smarter, more engaging recruitment and onboarding practices. You’ll also have space to contribute to the broader HR projects and strategic conversations that interest you/r growth.
Whether you're newly CIPD-qualified and looking to take the next step, or you're bringing broad generalist experience, we’ll support your development with career-graded progression and a commitment to your professional growth.
What you’ll be doing:
· Offering trusted advice across the employee lifecycle – from performance reviews to complex case management
· Championing inclusive recruitment and supporting a seamless onboarding experience
· Taking the lead on employee relations cases with sensitivity and confidence
· Coaching managers in best practice and people-centered leadership
· Contributing to training, policy development, payroll support and safeguarding practices
· Helping us stay up to date with employment law, compliance and HR trends
Who we’re looking for:
· You’re CIPD qualified (L3 or L5), or have the experience and competence that match
· You’ve supported managers through a range of HR queries and know when to offer guidance versus when to listen
· You bring practical knowledge of employment law and a drive to get things right
· You can juggle often competing deadlines with calm and tenacity
· You believe in continuous improvement — for yourself and for the people around you
· You’re ready to bring energy, care, and professionalism to every interaction
Why St Brendan’s?
We're a values-led college with a strong sense of community, shaped by our Catholic ethos and a shared commitment to inclusion, student success, and staff wellbeing. You'll be joining a team that genuinely supports one another and values a work environment rooted in trust, flexibility, and doing good work that makes a difference.
